Assurance

Jude 1:24-25 (KJV)    Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God, our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Bad Day?

Job 2:10 (NCV)    Job answered, "You are talking like a foolish woman. Should we take only good things from God and not trouble?" In spite of all this Job did not sin in what he said.

Job 4:5-6 (NCV)    But now trouble comes to you, and you are discouraged; trouble hits you, and you are terrified. You should have confidence because you respect God; you should have hope because you are innocent.

Job 36:5 (NCV)    "God is powerful, but he does not hate people; he is powerful and sure of what he wants to do.

2 Timothy 4:18 (NCV)    The Lord will save me when anyone tries to hurt me, and he will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. Glory forever and every be the Lord's. Amen.

James 1:2-3 (NCV)    My brothers and sisters, when you have many kinds of troubles, you should be full of joy, because you know that these troubles test your faith, and this will give you patience.

Being an example

1 Corinthians 8:9-13 (NCV)    But be careful that your freedom does not cause those who are weak on faith to fall into sin. You have "knowledge," so you eat in an idol's temple. But someone who is weak in faith might see you eating there and be encouraged to eat meat sacrificed to idols while thinking it is wrong to do so. This weak believer for whom Christ died is ruined because of your "knowledge." When you sin against your brothers and sisters in Christ like this and cause them to do what they feel is wrong, you are also sinning against Christ. So if the food I eat causes them to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again so that I will not cause any of them to sin.

Leviticus 19:2 (NCV)    "Tell all the people of Israel: 'I am the Lord your God. You must be holy because I am holy.'"

Hebrews 12:1 (RSV)    We have around us many people whose lives tell us what faith means. So let us run the race that is before us and never give up. We should remove from our lives anything that would get in the way and the sin that so easily holds us back.

Galations 6:2 (NCV)    By helping each other with your troubles, you truly obey the law of Christ.

Bible Study

2 Timothy 3:15-17 (NCV)    Since you were a child you have known the Holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise. And that wisdom leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by God and is useful for teaching, for showing people what is wrong in their lives, for correcting faults, and for teaching how to live right. Using the Scriptures, the person who serves God will be capable, having all that is needed to do every good work.

Evil

Mark 7:23 (NCV)    "All these evil things come from inside and make people unclean."

Job 34:10 (NCV)    "So listen to me, you who can understand. God can never do wrong! It is impossible for the Almighty to do evil."

God's Gifts

Romans 12:5-12 (NCV)    In the same way, we are many, but in Christ we are all one body. Each one is a part of that body, and each part belongs to all the other parts. We all have different gifts, each of which came because of the grace God gave us. The person who has the gift of prophecy should use that gift in agreement with the faith. Anyone who has the gift of serving should serve. Anyone who has the gift of being a leader should try hard when he leads. Whoever has the gift of showing mercy to others should do so with joy. Your love must be real. Hate what is evil, and hold on to what is good. Love each other like brothers and sisters. Give each other more honor than you want for yourselves. Do not be lazy but work hard, serving the Lord with all your heart. Be joyful because you have hope. Be patient when trouble comes, and paray at all times.

Judgement Day

2 Peter 3:10-13 (NCV)    But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The skies will disappear with a loud noise. Everything in them will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be burned up. In that way everything will be destroyed. So what kind of people should you be? You should live holy lives and serve God, as you wait for and look forward to the coming of the day of God. When the day comes, the skies will be destroyed with fire, and everything in them will melt with heat. But God made a promise to us, and we are waiting for a new heaven and a new earth where goodness lives.

Keeping Faith

Mark 11:22-23 (NCV)    Jesus answered, Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, "Go, fall into the sea." And if you have no doubts in your mind and believe that what you say will happen, God will do it for you.

Matthew 17:20 (NCV)    Jesus answered, "Because your faith is too small. I tell you the truth, if your faith is as big as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. All things will be possible for you."

Matthew 21:22 (NCV)    "If you believe, you will get anything you ask for in prayer."

Matthew 28:20 (NCV)    Teach them to obey everything that I have taught you, and I will be with you always, even until the end of this age."

1 Timothy 4:10 (NCV)    This is why we work and struggle: We hope in the living God who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.

2 Kings 6:16 (NCV)     Elisha said, "Don't be afraid. The army that fights for us is larger than the one against us." Then Elisha prayed, "Lord, open my servant's eyes, and let him see." The Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw that the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Knowing God

Exodus 34:6-7 (NCV)    The Lord passed in front of Moses and said, "I am the Lord. The Lord is a God who shows mercy, who is kind, who doesn't become angry quickly, who has great love and faithfulness and is kind to thousands of people. The Lord forgives people for evil, for sin, and for turning against him, but he does not forget to punish guilty people. He will punish not only the guilty people, but also their children, their grandchildren, their great-grandchildren, and their great-great-grandchildren."

2 Peter 1:5-10 (NCV)    Because you have these blessings, do your best to add these things to your lives: to your faith, add goodness; and to your goodness, add knowledge; and to your knowledge, add self-control; and to your self-control, add patience; and to your pateince, add service for God; and to your service for God, add kindness for your brothers and sisters in Christ; and to this kindness, add love. If all these things are in you and are growing, they will help you to be useful and productive in you knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But anyone who does not have these things cannot see clearly. He is blind and has forgotten that he was made clean from his past sins. My brothers and sisters, try hard to be certain that you really are called and chosen by God. If you do all these things, you will never fall.

2 Peter 2:4-10 (NCV)    When angels sinned, God did not let them go free without punishment. He sent them to hell and put them in caves of darkness where they are being held for judgment. And God punished the world long ago when he brought a flood to the world that was full of people who were against him. But God saved Noah, who preached about being right with God, and seven other people with him. And God also destroyed the evil cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by buring them until they were ashes. He made those cities an example of what will happen to those who are against God. But he saved Lot from those cities. Lot, a good man, was troubled because of the filthy lives of evil people. (Lot was a good man, but because he lived with evil people every day, his good heart was hurt by the evil things he saw and heard.) So the Lord knows how to save those who serve him when troubles come. He will hold evil people and punish them, while waiting for the Judgment Day. That punishment is especially for those who live by doing the evil things their sinful selves want and who hate authority.

Revelation 21:6 (NCV)    The One on the throne said to me, "It is finished. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give free water from the spring of the water of life to anyone who is thirsty."

Mark 9:40 (NCV)    So the followers brought him to Jesus. As soon as the evil spirit saw Jesus, it made the boy lose control of himself, and he fell down and rolled on the ground, foaming at the mouth.

Ephesians 6:11 (NCV)    Put on the full armor of God so that you can fight against the devil's evil tricks.

Numbers 23:19 (NCV)    God is not a human being, and he will not lie. He is not a human, and does not change his mind. What he says he will do, he does. What he promises, he makes come trued.

Love

1 Corinthians 13:7 (NCV)    Love patiently accepts all things. It always trusts, always hopes, and always remains strong.

1 John 4:12 (NCV)    No one has ever seen God, but if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is made perfect in us.

Proverbs Chapter 31 (NCV)    This is a great chapter. First you look up the day of your birth: this is your Proverbs verse (You're supposed to be female.) I've found that they are usually pretty accurate.

1 Peter 3:4 (NCV)    No, your beauty should come from within you--the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit that will never be destroyed and is very precious to God.

Matthew 5:44-45 (NCV)    But I say to you, love your enemies. Pary for those who hurt your Father in heaven. He causes the sun to rise on good people and on evil people, and he sends rain to those who do right and to those who do wrong.

Non-Christians

Matthew 7:3-5 (NCV)    "Why do you notice the little piece of dust in your freind's eye, but you don't notice the big piece of wood in your own eye? How can you say to your friend, 'Let me take that little piece of dust out of your eye'? Look at yourself! You still have that big piece of wood in your own eye. You hypocrite! First, take the wood out of your own eye. Then you will see clearly to take the dust out of your friend's eye."

Matthew 9:12 (NCV)    When Jesus heard them, he said, "It is not the healthy people who need a doctor, but the sick."

Job 5:9 (NCV)    God does wonders that cannot be understood; he does so many miracles they cannot counted.

Job 25:2-4 (NCV)    "God rules and he must be honored; he set up order in his high heaven. No one can count God's armies. His light shines on all people. So no one can be good in the presence of God, and no one born to a woman can be pure.

Daniel 6:27 (NCV)    God rescues and saves people and does mighty miracles in heaven and on earth. He is the one who saved Daniel from the power of the lions.

1 Timothy 1:14 (NCV)    But the grace of our Lord was fully given to me, and with that grace came the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

1 John 5:16 (NCV)    If anyone sees a brother or sister sinning (sin that does not lead to eternal death), that person should pray, and God will give the sinner life.

Prayer

John 14:14 (NCV)    If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it.

Luke 11:9-10 (NCV)    So I tell you, ask, and God will give to you. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will open for you. Yes, everyone who asks will receive. The one who searches will find. And everyone who knocks will have the door opened.

Jeremaih 33:3 (NCV)    '..., pray to me, and I will answer you. I will tell you important secrets you have never heard before.'

Matthew 6:9-13 (NCV)    'Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temtation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever, Amen.'

Matthew 7:7-8 (NCV)    "Ask, and God will give to you. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will open for you. Yes, everyone who asks will receive. Everyone who searches will find. And everyone who knocks will have the door opened.

Matthew 18:19-20 (NCV)    "Also, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about something and pray for it, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven, This is true because if two or three people come together in my name, I am there with them."

Psalms 13 (NCV)    How long will you forget me, Lord? Forever? How long will you hide from me? How long must I worry and feel sad in my heart all day? How long will my enemy win over me? Lord, look at me. Answer me, my God; tell me, or I will die. Otherwise my enemy will say, " I have won!" Those against me will rejoice that I've been defeated. I trust in your love. My heart is happy because you saved me. I sing to the Lord because he has taken care of me.

James 4:1-6 (NCV)    Do you know where your fights and arguments come from? They come from the selfish desires that war within you. You want things, but you do not have them. So you are ready to kill and are jealous of other people, but you still cannot get what you want. So you argue and fight. You do not get what you want, because you do not ask God. Or when you ask, you do not receive because the reason you ask is wrong. You want things so you can use them for your own pleasures.      So, you are not loyal to God! You should know that loving the world is the same as hating God. Anyone who wants to be a friend of the world becomes God's enemy. Do you think the Scripture means nothing that says, "The spirit that God made to live in us wants us for himself alone." But God gives us even more grace, as the Scipture says,      "God is against the proud, but he gives strength to the humble."

Salvation

Revelation 22:17 (NCV)    The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" Let whoever is thirsty come; whoever wishes may have the water of life as a free gift.

2 Timothy 2:11-13 (NCV)    You know how I have been hurt and have suffered, but the Lord saved me from all those troubles. Everyone who wants to live as God desires, in Christ Jesus, will be hurt. But people who are evil and cheat others will go from bad to worse. They will fool others, but they will also be fooling themselves.

Temptation

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NCV)    The only temptation that has come to you is that which everyone has. But you can trust God, who will not permit you to be tempted more than you can stand. But when you are tempted, he will also give you a way to escape so that you will be able to stand it.

Matthew 6:24 (NCV)    "No one can serve two masters. The person will hate one master and love the other, or will follow one master and refuse to follow the other. You cannot serve both God and worldly riches.

Matthew 20:1-16 (NCV)    "The kingdom of heaven is like a person who owned some land. One morning, he went out very early to hire some people to work in his vineyard. The man agreed to pay the workers one coin for working that day. Then he sent them into the vineyard to work. About nine o'clock the man went to the market and saw some other people standing there, doing nothing. So he said to them, 'If you go and work in my vineyard, I will pay you what your work is worth.' So they went to work in the vineyard. The man went out again about twelve o'clock and three o'clock and did the same thing. About five o'clock the man went to the marketplace again and saw others standing there. He asked them, 'Why did you stand here all day doing nothing?' They answered, 'No one gave us a job.' The man said to them, 'Then you can go and work in my vineyard.'      "At the end of the day, the owner of the vineyard said to the boss of all the workers, 'Call the workers and pay them. Start with the last people I hired and end with those I hired first.'     When the workers who were hired at five o'clock came to get their pay, they thought they would be paid more than the others. But each one of them also received one coin. When they got their coin, they complained to the man who owned the land. They said, 'Those people were hired last and worked only one hour. But you paid them the same as you paid us who worked hard all day in the hot sun.' But the man who owned the vineyard said to one of those workers, 'Friend, I am being fair to you. You agreed to work for one coin. So take your pay and go. I want to give the man who was hired last the same pay that I gave you. I can do what I want with my own money. Are you jealous because I am good to those people?'

2 Timothy 4:6-8 (NCV)    My life is being given as an offering to God, and the time has come for me to leave this life. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now, a crown is being held for me-a crown for being right with God. The Lord, the judge who judges rightly, will give the crown to me on that day-not only to me but to all those who have waited with love for him to come again.

1 John 3:6 (NCV)    So anyone who lives in Christ does not go on sinning. Anyone who goes on sinng has never really understood Christ and has never known him.

Ephesians 5:8 (NCV)    In the past you were full of darkness, but now you are full of light in the Lord. So live like children who belong to the light.

Testing the Lord

Matthew 4:7 (NCV)    Jesus answered him, "It also says in the Scriptures, ‘Do not test the Lord your God.'"

Turned from Christ?

1 Peter 2:25 (NCV)    You were like sheep that wandered away, but now you have come back to the Shepherd and Protector of your souls.

Why Christianity?

John 14:6 (NCV)    Jesus answered, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me."

Worry

1 Peter 5:6-7 (NCV)    Be humble under God's powerful hand so he will lift you up when the right time comes. Give all your worries to him, because he cares about you.
